Masonic Collectibles

Honour, integrity, trustworthiness, and dependability.
These are the fundamental principles held by Masons around the world.

Masonic Collectibles

Masons are members of the world's largest fraternal society. Masons are also known as Freemasons,
and technically that is probably the correct name for this large group of idealistic, selfless men.
Although no women are allowed to be members of the order, Freemasonry is so widespread and
such a part of Western society that almost everyone in the English-speaking world knows someone
who is or was a Mason. As a result, Masonic collectibles are incredibly popular, and there is no sign
that their popularity will decrease any time in the foreseeable future.

Almost everyone feels the need to own things that are interesting or appealing. And that need, the urge
to have things that interest us, is at the heart of the popularity of Masonic collectibles. Something,
somewhere, interests every one of us, and when we realize what it is, we want to have it.

An aura of mystery surrounds the Masons, partially because of the secrecy of Masonic rituals and partially because of the uncertain, obscure origins of the society hundreds of years ago. The fraternity of Freemasonry was born during the Medieval period, most likely as an offshoot of the stonemasons guilds that were building the castles and cathedrals that we so strongly associate with the Middle Ages. The Knights Templar probably also influenced the structure and ideals of the Masons. The Templars were a famous Medieval order of knights who lived by the sword, protecting Christian pilgrims travelling to the Holy Land during the Crusades. One type of popular Masonic collectible is the ceremonial Masonic sword, possibly because of Masonry's historic connection with the Knights Templar.

There are many different types of Masonic collectibles. In addition to Masonic swords, they include Masonic art, Masonic Jewelry such as watches, rings, lapel pins and tie pins/tacs bearing the Masonic square and compass emblem, Masonic Bibles, articles of clothing such as Masonic aprons, paperweights and more. Some Masonic collectibles bear the highly recognizable square and compass emblem or one of the other symbols that have significance in the various degrees of Freemasonry. Because of their inherent interest in Masonic items and the brotherhood in general, any Mason would be very likely to be interested in Masonic collectibles.

Collectors are a very passionate and very diligent group of people. Sometimes they have to spend quite a bit of money in order to add a hard-to-find or valuable item. But other Masonic collectibles are inexpensive, and getting these pieces sometimes requires more time and effort than money. For a collector, finally finding an elusive Masonic collectible is very satisfying. But the advent of the internet and online shopping has made the acquisition of Masonic collectibles an easier task, opening up the entire world as a place to look for and find "that certain something."

Honour, integrity, trustworthiness, and dependability. These ideals, together with their extensive charitable work, quite naturally instil a sense of honour and pride in the members of the fraternity of Masons. This sense of honour, this sense of pride, mean that Masonic collectibles are highly relevant and highly attractive to just about Mason. Masonic collectibles are a tangible symbol of a Mason's commitment to this fine brotherhood of men, and to his involvement in society.
