Excalibur Sword

Excalibur - the famous "Sword in the Stone."  No sword, either real or legendary, is more famous than Excalibur.  It is intimately associated with the myths, legends and heroic deeds surrounding King Arthur, Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table.

Excalibur Sword

Excalibur was said to be a magical sword with mysterious powers, sometimes blinding Arthur's foes with the light of thirty torches.  As legend has it, Arthur became the rightful king of Britain because, although many tried, he was the only man able to pull Excalibur out of the stone it was set in.  Other legends say that Arthur received Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake after breaking Caliburn, his first sword.

No one knows if Arthur actually wielded Excalibur, or if he did, how he received his legendary sword.  But everyone, even young children, knows the stories surrounding Excalibur and its royal owner.  The epic film "Camelot," which starred Richard Harris in the role of King Arthur, only served to enhance the mystique and appeal of the legend and this famous sword.

"Movie swords" such as replica Excalibur swords, Braveheart swords and Lord of the Rings swords, are extremely popular with film buffs and with people who have a penchant for Medieval or feudal history.  They are also sought-after by people who love historical fiction and fantasy novels such as The Once and Future King.  Seeing a beautiful, elegant Excalibur sword hanging on the wall will easily evoke memories of the Camelot film and the heroic time period that it portrayed.

Excalibur swords are very collectible and can be a wonderful addition to a home's decor.  And Medieval tournament re-enactments have become very popular.  An Excalibur sword worn by a man attending a Medieval re-enactment would be a perfect complement to a period costume from that era.

A replica Excalibur sword is usually a double-handed sword.  There are several varieties of the Excalibur sword, but they are all beautiful, and all evoke the pageantry of long ago, epic times.  True to its roots in early England, an Excalibur sword sometimes has a leather-wrapped hilt and comes with a rough leather or wood scabbard or sheath.  Other Excalibur swords have chrome-plated steel hilts and blades, and still others have solid silver or brass hilts and polished stainless steel blades.  Some have hilts that have been etched with the traditional triple crown design of King Arthut.  And some have precious or semi-precious gems inlaid or set into the hilt.  But no matter what metal is used for the sword, and no matter how ornately or simply decorated, the design is always Medieval, the time period when King Arthur and his knights lived and died so valiantly.

An Excalibur sword.  Arthurian legend.  The Quest for the Holy Grail.  Magic and mystery.

Everyone needs some magic and mystery in their life.  Everyone wants to live in Camelot.  Find an Excalibur sword, display it proudly, and remember the legend.
